Blog Makeover

So things look a little different around here! Well, that's because the blog got a makeover!

I was feeling a little uninspired with the look of my blog so I decided to tweak a few things and I love how it turned out! Nothing major has changed, but I think the result is super clean, chic, and feminine!  I decided to keep the color scheme of blush, white, and black because I think it really defines my personal style and the style I share on my blog! The busy stripes and wash tape graphics are gone  and now I think it looks more grown up!

What do you think of the new design? Let me know:)!

If you have any questions about how I did this, or how you can change up your blog as well, feel free to leave of comment or tweet me your question (@belleadoreblog)!

Workout Routine

Surprisingly enough, I think I've made it to the gym more often since I've started college than ever before! Working out is such a good way to break up the day and relieve any stress from all the homework I have! We have such a nice gym here with so much space, brand new machines, and even some classes that you can take!

I've gotten into a little routine when I go to the gym and when I leave I feel so accomplished and tired! Here's what I do-

 - 20 - 30 minutes on the treadmill/elliptical/bicycle (I like to switch it up)
- stretch
-  1 minute planks (x2)
- 15 crunches (x3)
- Russian Twists with an 8lb weight for 30seconds (x3)
- 15 one arm toe touch (x2)
- 10 squat (+jump) with a 10 lb weight (x2)
- 30 seconds of scissors (x2)

This isn't the exact order that I stick to - but it's usually along these same lines! I like listening to the 'Fun Workout' playlist on Spotify - it has such great songs to get you pumped up!

While I may not be the biggest fan of cold weather or snow, I woke up yesterday morning to the prettiest site...a snow covered campus! It's been snowing nonstop for the past 24 hours so yesterday my friend Ashlee and I decided to explore campus and take some pictures! I think we saw about 5 people total outside because everyone was probably bundled up inside!

The 'famous' Boatwright Library!

We found an open gate to the football field and decided to go in! There were absolutely no footprints made and it was so crazy to actually be on such a huge field!

The lake was starting to freeze over!

I didn't think it was possible for our campus to get any more gorgeous but let me tell you, the fresh snow made it so peaceful! Snow days in college are 10x more fun that before because you get to spend the whole day bundled up, watching Friends in bed with your besties, ordering Chinese food and just chilling the whole day!

What I'm wearing:  Scarf, Jacket, Hat (similar), Boots

What Ashlee's wearing: Scarf (similar), Jacket (similar), Boots, Hat (similar), Glasses

Ski Trip!

I'm going skiing! I'm so excited because I've never been and I'm going with one of my besties from school! The outdoors club at Richmond is hosting a trip to a ski resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains - about 2 hours away from my school - and we decided to sign up for what seems like a really fun day trip! The trip only costs $40 and includes transportation, food, all the rental, and a full day pass for the ski lift! So like I said, I've never been skiing before and I'm a little nervous that I'm going to be the only beginner going on the trip (haha) - I'll probably be on the bunny slopes the whole day but I'm hoping it'll still be fun!

It actually snowed the other day in Richmond for a good couple hours...it didn't stick but it definitely got me more excited for this trip! Even though I have all the gear I need(courtesy of my friend Ashlee!) I was still browsing Shopbop and Nordstrom for all things wintery and cute so if you have any cold weather trips planned...check out a few of my favorite picks below!

Healthy Eating in College

image via Pinterest

For all you college student out there, you know how difficult eating in college can be. For one thing, your options are pretty limited and its probable that you will not always like what is being served. The freshman 15 is unfortunately a real thing and while I may not have gained 15 pounds, I could tell that the change in my everyday eating habits were negatively affecting my health/overall well being. Eating in college is tough, especially if you're on a meal plan, because you don't really have a choice in what is being served! While colleges try providing healthy eating options, generally speaking most options are much less healthy than what a typical meal would be if it was home cooked. The fact that dining halls are buffet style tricks people into thinking that they should eat more - basically just because it's there and you don't have to pay for it'. One thing that got me was the cereal bar we have at my school (weird, I know). Yes, it has tons of options - about 10 different ones (both healthy and unhealthy)- but since my at my house we never had Lucky Charms, I would always go for a bowl of that! Snacking is another biggie that can lead to people eating unhealthy - even when they're not hungry. When you're stuck at a desk studying, you can't help but reach for those pretzels, chocolate, or popcorn - trust me, I know!

But eating in college doesn't have to come with the worry that you're going to go home with an extra 10 pounds - you just have to be a little bit more mindful of what you're eating and how much you're eating.

  • Oatmeal - if you have access to hot water or a microwave in your dorm, then this is a quick and easy breakfast you can make before heading to your first class! If you keep bananas or apples in your room you can also use those as a topping!
  • Avocado toast - So for this you're going to have to head to your dining hall. My school has cut up avocado in the mornings and its great put on toasted bread or a bagel!
  • Special K with banana - This can most definitely be found in your dining hall but you also keep these in your dorm room too! Healthy, yummy, and perfectly filling.
  • Yogurt and Fruit - Maybe your school has a parfait bar like mine! They offer a few options of cut up food and different yogurt options! When I have breakfast in the dining hall, I usually make a bowl of this and toast an english muffin with jelly!
  • Wheat Bread, Peanut Butter, and Banana - this is pretty self explanatory and super easy to make! It'll satisfy your sweet tooth - minus all the sugar!
  • Veggie Omelet - except ask for only egg whites!
  • Veggies with hummus - I just started picking up hummus when I go to the grocery store and it is the perfect snack if you don't like eating a big lunch like I do! On occasion, my dining hall also serves hummus with pita chips and veggies!
  • Salad - We have a small cafe campus called Lou's that serves the best salads!! Its chipotle style and you pick and choose what you want! I get half mixed greens half spinach, cucumbers, artichokes, edamame, avocado, and balsamic dressing! SO good!
  • Panini - I think most schools have a sandwich station or something of the sort! I'll occasionally get a panini with wheat bread, pesto, spinach, red pepper, avocado, and mozzarella cheese!
  • Apple and Peanut Butter - slice up and apple and get a side of PB for the perfect snack if you're not too hungry!
  • Salad with Grilled Chicken - so you can make your go-to salad and cut up pieces of grilled chicken to put on top.
  • Wheat Pasta w/Sauce - I personally could never give up pasta so I make it healthier by switching out the typical white pasta for wheat! Add a side salad for a balanced meal!
  • Meat w/ Rice and Veggies - For those that have a kitchen in their apartments this is a super easy one to make! Grilled Chicken, brown rice, and maybe a side of broccoli - super easy and delicious!
  • Popcorn - I love Skinny Pop!
  • Fruit - Apples, Bananas, Clementines, and oranges are all super easy to keep in your bag and store in your room! A healthy alternative to cookies or chips
  • Crackers w/Peanut Butter- You can keep all these ingredients in your dorm to make or take to class!
  • Almonds - easy to pack and they also have tons of health benefits!
  • Granola - I love Kind Bars as well as loose granola!
I can't say that I stick to these option 24/7... because I definitely have my fair share of unhealthy foods! But, I think the key is to eat them in moderation and balance it out with healthier options! Maybe eat healthy on most school days so that you can enjoy a 'less nutritious' meal if you go out on the weekend! These are just some of ideas that can help you stick to a healthy eating schedule if you're in college - or even if you're not! My goal for this semester is to take a little better care of my body - and that means working out more and eating right!

P.S - don't forget to stay hydrated!

Updated Beauty Favorites

It's safe to say that my beauty routine has simplified a bit since I've started college! I don't have the time before my early morning class to do a full face of makeup but I definitely want something that will last the whole day and give me decent coverage!

- I ended up buying the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer on a whim when I was standing in the checkout line at Sephora (It gets me every time!). I think it's percent for people who don't have a ton of blemishes but want a extra lift for their skin or need to correct any redness! I contains SPF which is an added bonus and doesn't dry out your skin!

- It's safe to say my skin has not been cooperating with my this month! I'm not sure what's causing the breakouts but I'm praying it'll end soon! A heavy duty concealer has been my best friend - especially the Nars Creamy Concealer!

- The Nars blush is one of my tried and true products that I always find myself reaching for! I have the shades Orgasm and Amour

- The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is one of the best drugstore products I've used! It's the perfect finishing touch to make your look last and it definitely won't break the bank!

- Glossier's Boy Brow is a new one for me and I absolutely love it! After using the Anastasia brow pencil for the longest time I was excited to use a brow gel! It shapes my brows perfectly while also willing in any gaps and just adding overall definition to the brow!

- Even on days when I don't wear face makeup, I usually do a swipe of mascara just to brighten up my eyes! I've mentioned it before, but the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara is one of the best ones Ive used! It's running out and I think I'm going to test out this one next!

- Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a little color on the lips and this 'Rose' color is the perfect one! Hydrating and pigmented - the perfect combo!

What are your beauty favorites?!

Life Lately...

With winter break coming to a close for me, I thought I would share a few snapshots from my time at home!

I treated myself to a mani yesterday! Even though I always say I'm going to try out a new, trendy color..I always end up going back to a light pink like this one! (I just never get tired of it!) Is it just me or do you feel like a new person who has their stuff together after you  get your nails done?

After this picture was taken I cut off about 2 1/2 inches! It doesn't seem like a lot but to me my hair feels so short now! I got a lot of question about what I used to curl my hair like this and the answer is that I use this Hot Tools curling iron!

I also just wanted to thank everyone who entered my giveaway! I had so much fun picking out what to giveaway and I'm glad you all were just as excited as I was! The package is on its way to the winner so hopefully she likes it!

I don't think I've ever experienced a winter like the one we've been having! 60 degrees in the middle of January? Not a single sight of snow? You would think we were living in florida or something! I' not complaining, especially when we get sunsets like these!

I'm on a mission to get into the habit of drinking more water every day! I even have the cutest water bottle to help me out:) I made this orange/raspberry infused water yesterday and loved it so I think I'll have to keep trying out more combinations!

In other news...

- One of my best friends made a blog to document her semester abroad in London and I totally recommend following along!

- I just got these sneakers and I love them! I thought they would be too 'edgy' but they are actually surprisingly comfortable and go with so much - especially my favorite jeans and striped tee!

- I loved this post on how to stay healthy in 2016 and I'm eager to try out Caroline's recommendations!

- I just started using the Kiehl's face wash, moisturizer, hand salve, and body lotion and have been pleasantly surprised by the results from each! I'm definitely going to have to try out a few more items from the brand!

- I head back to school on Sunday and I'm pretty excited to start my second semester at Richmond! It's crazy to think that I'm more than halfway done with my first year at college and I'm excited to see what these next few months have in store!

I hope you all had a lovely week and be sure to follow along my Instagram for more snaps like these!
